Pensacola led by backcourt prospects

It's been a streaky season at Pensacola Junior College. The Pirates have two separate four-game winning streaks, but have more than balanced that out with three losing streaks of at least three games. PJC currently has lost its first five games in conference play.
"This is the first time we've ever been there," said head coach Paul Swanson. "The whole year there have been unusuals. We started out with Hurricane Ivan and sent everybody home for three weeks. Then we came back and I probably worked them too hard and lost a lot of guys to injury. We're not as fluid as we'd like to be. And the league's probably the best it's ever been. We've been in every game, we just haven't been able to win any of them."

There have been a couple of bright spots for Swanson's team though. 6-foot-3 guard Steven Procter committed to Binghamton over the break.
"He kind of did it on his own over Christmas so I don't know a lot about it," Swanson said. "We have had a bunch of people calling about him since then."
Procter is averaging 15.4 points per game and has upped that to 19.2 in league play. He is shooting 47% from the three-point line, 85% from the line and grabs 4.6 boards a game.
In addition to Procter, Division I transfer {db]Kristopher Kuhn[/db] is receiving heavy interest. Kuhn transferred to PJC from Robert Morris last year. He has an early offer from Georgia State, but is looking aroun.
"This place gets calls every day for him," Swanson said. "He's an athletic wing player. He's averaging 13.8 in the league, shooting 53% overall from the field."
The Pirates are focusing on breaking into the win column. They'll worry about recruiting later.
