Phillips to Conference USA

Lamar State College in Port Arthur, TX made a lot of noise last season in Region XIV of Eastern Texas. Ahyaro Phillips, a former division one transfer from the University of Nevada, will play for the Golden Eagles of the University of Southern Mississippi this coming fall. Phillips, a New Orleans native, surfaced to Richmond after Hurricane Katrina and played at Fork Union Military before heading off to college.

Phillips had signed with James Madison University but obtained a release from the Colonial Athletic Association to play in Conference USA. Phillips averaged 11.3 points and 11.2 rebounds per game this past season while posting 103 blocked shots for the Seahawks.
Seahawks Head Coach Matt Cross has the Seahawks heading in the right direction and JucoJunction looks forward to seeing them this October in the Mitchell-Mullen Dallas Blowout JUCO Jamboree.
