Pirates guard makes the call

One school in the Jayhawk Conference has now three players committed to NCAA D1 schools for next fall. "Anthony Downing is heading to Missouri State University in the Missouri Valley Conference next fall.

Anthony has been the rock of the Independence CC program for the past two seasons. Anthony has always wanted to play in the MVC Conference," said Independence Community College Head coach Patrick Nee.
Downing was ranked number 54 this season in the JucoJunction Top 150 and was a two year starter for the Pirates. The Pirates finished the season at 23-9.
The third year player finished his career with the Pirates with 1,042 points in 62 games played . Downing averaged 18 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5 assists per game this season while gathering all conference honors.
Downing received interest from Central Michigan and Missouri State before deciding on Bears new head coach Paul Lusk.
