Players that you might not of heard of yet

I really enjoy watching players that might not be on the big scene. Some players just simply fly under the radar because they don't play at big time NJCAA programs. JucoJunction saw a duo this past weekend in Dallas that really caught our attention. Read more about these players in this article on your source for junior college basketball recruiting.
Coastal Bend College is located in Beeville, T.X. near Corpus Christi. The Cougars are coached by Larry Mendez and assistant coach Chad Kline. Kline worked the past few years at Frank Phillips College in Borger, T.X.

The Cougars host two intriguing prospects for the future in Ashton Brown and Charles Mells. Brown is a 5-foot-10 shooting guard from Buffalo, N.Y. who played last season at Jamestown Community College located in upstate New York. Brown averaged 24.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 34 percent (75-218) from 3-point range. Brown scored 59 points versus JCC-Olean last December 2009. Brown was banged up this past weekend in Dallas with a bad back and saw limited action.
Mells is a 6-foot-11 center who hails from Miami, F.L. "Charles has a great frame and long wingspan and moves down the floor very well," said JucoJunction Publisher Bret Swanson. Mells is currently 21 years of age and has never attended school until this fall.
I would think a few NCAA Division One programs will find their way to Beeveill, T.X. this season to see this duo. Stay tuned to JucoJunction all season long to see how the Cougars do on your source for junior college basketball recruiting.
