Polk features high major talent

The Polk Community College Vikings play in the Suncoast Conference in Florida. The Vikings are currently (16-5) under veteran head coach Matt Furjanic. JucoJunction had a chance to touch base with assistant coach Phil Cohen on some of the Vikings sophomores' recruitment.
Quincy Hankins, (SO) 6-foot-8 (240) from Long Island, NY, is off to a great start this season and is currently averaging 16.5 ppg and 12.3 rebounds.

"Quincy plays extremely hard and is very skilled and can play both the 4/5 slots," said Cohen.
Quincy is receiving interest from South Florida, Providence, Arizona, Seton Hall, Nebraska, UAB, Arkansas and South Carolina according to coach Cohen.
"Quincy does a great job of rebounding the both and out of his area and runs the floor very well," said Cohen.
Lance Jeter, (SO) 6-foot-3 (235) from Beaver Falls, PA, is a power point guard and can really stuff the stat sheet. Lance is currently averaging 14.7 ppg, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists this season. Jeter, a former football player, was recently named player of the week in the state of Florida.
"Lance is a true point guard with great court vision and scoring ability. Lance is a floor general and has a high basketball IQ," said Cohen.
Kent State-offered, Robert Morris and Nebraska have shown interest in Jeter according to Cohen.
Deontay Twyman, (SO) 6-foot-0 (175) from Olney, MD, is a transfer from Ball State University. Deontay is off to 15 ppg and 3.4 assists so far this season. Twyman, a combo guard, has received early interest from Duquesne-offered, Maryland Eastern Shore and Savannah State according to coach Cohen.
"Deontay has done a great job of blending into the system while establishing himself as a high level scorer who can play the point guard position as well," said Cohen.
Nick Daggett, Rodney Mickens and Donald Robinson round out the Vikings sophomores. This trio is mostly receiving D2/NAIA interest according to coach Cohen. Daggett, (SO) 6-foot-1 (190), is a versatile player who can play the 1-3 positions on the floor. Mickens is a 5-foot-11 (180) point guard who makes really good decisions on the floor. Robinson, (SO) 6-foot-4 (180), is a 2/3 man.
The Vikings are looking to make a return trip to the Florida State Tourney in Marianna at Chipola College in March. JucoJunction will keep you posted on there progress.
