Poole Could Leave Bevill with Three Years

Eric Poole, a massive 6-9, 300 pound center from Bevill State C.C. in Jasper, Ala., could leave the junior college ranks with three years to play on the Division I level.
Poole is a red-shirt freshman at Bevill State. He sat out at Bevill last year, and if he can complete his associates degree requirements by the summer of 2004, he could have three years of eligbility at a Division I school.

Bevill State Head Coach Chris Trawick informed JUCO Junction that Poole has received early feelers from Tennessee Tech, Auburn and UNLV.
JUCO Junction had a chance to watch Poole on Thursday at Shelton State C.C. in Tuscaloosa, Ala., where Bevill State competed in a four-team jamboree.
Poole has decent hands and a soft touch on his shots, but his conditioning and lack of athleticism will probably limit where he can play on the Division I landscape.
Coach Trawick said that Poole has made significant strides since enrolling at Bevill State. A native of Roanoke, Ala., Poole tipped the scales at well over 300 pounds last year.
Trawick said he expects Poole to graduate in the summer of 2004. JUCO Junction will keep an eye on the big man throughout the 2003-2004 junior college basketball season. Stay tuned.
