Pratt players focus on recruiting

The Pratt Community College Beavers had a solid season and recently lost to Cloud County CC 71-59 in the quarterfinals of the Kansas Region Tourney. The Beavers finished the season at (24-8) on the year and (10-6) in the Jayhawk Western Conference. JucoJunction talked to Coach Trevor Rolfs today about some of his recruitable players.
Kevin Goffney: (SO) 6-foot-5 (225) from Jackson,LA. The long, strong, athletic scoring guard averaged 16 ppg and 10 rebounds this season. Goffney played at Nicholls State (LA) as a freshman. Kevin has received an offer from St Mary's (CA) and now is receiving heavy interest from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Loyola-Chicago. Goffney shot 51% (165-323) from the floor this season in 27 games for Beavers.

Jairocey Simpson: (SO) 6-foot-8 (260) from Detroit, MI. Simpson is a power forward that played his freshman season at Georgia Perimeter JC. Jairocey averaged 13.4 ppg and 6.9 rebounds this past season. The big strong athletic four man might have to sit out next year in order to go the D1 route. IUPUI has shown a lot of interest in Simpson this spring.
Robert Moores: (FR) 6-foot-2 (175) from Chicago, IL. Robert redshirted last season at Pratt and will graduate this spring and have 3 years left at the D1 level.
"Robert is your prototypical combo guard that's strong and long. His best attribute is a point guard that can shoot the ball," said Rolfs.
Moores played the point guard all season long for the Beavers where he averaged 13.9 ppg and 4 assists a night. Robert attended high school at York High School outside of Chicago. Utah State, UTEP, Texas Tech and Northern Colorado are following Moores this spring.
Rochard McAfee: (SO) 6-foot-2 (180) New Orleans, LA.
"Rochard is an athletic wing player that's very explosive to the rim," said Rolfs.
McAfee scores very well in transition. He must improve on his perimeter shooting. Rochard averaged 10.8 ppg this season for the Beavers. McAfee will have some work to do in the classroom to graduate on time.
Alex Rivas-Sanchez: (FR) 6-foot-10 (230) from the Dominican Republic. The athletic center averaged just 4.8 ppg and 9.3 rebounds this season.
"We didn't need Alex to score a lot this season. We will look for more production out of him next season. He really improved from week to week this season," said Rolfs.
Utah, Utah State, Miami (FL), Pittsburgh, UNLV and Wichita State are all starting to recruit Alex.
