Ramalho will sign in-state today

On the first day of basketball's early signing period, the UTEP Miners will be expecting a letter from South Plains forward Victor Ramalho.
"He will sign today," said South Plains assistant Brette Tanner. "He hasn't done it yet, but he's going to."

Ramalho is the lone returning sophomore for South Plains this season.
"We expect leadership and for him to help us on the glass and guarding people," Tanner said. "The majority of the games, he'll be guarding the best low block scorer they have. If he's rebounding and guarding, he's doing his job."
Ramalho selected the Miners over BYU and Louisiana Tech.
"He felt really comfortable there. He liked the college, the atmosphere, the coaches," Tanner said. "It was a hard decision for him. He really liked all three of them."
Ramalho will bring toughness to UTEP next season.
"Where he's valuable is what doesn't show up on the stat sheet," Tanner said. "He plays hard, he's aggressive. He's 6-8 and he's more of a four, but he can step out and shoot it too."
Ramalho joins fellow junior college player Tavaris Watts on UTEP's commit list.
