Sea Devils Look to Make Next Step

Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC came up short last season on making a return trip to the NJCAA National Tourney. The Sea Devils fell short to Clinton Junior College in Region 10 semifinals. This coming season Head Coach Ryan Mantlo looks to bring back the hardware to the Port City. JucoJunction takes a look at some of the keys cogs this year for the Sea Devils.
"Tavares Speaks is a good defender with a scorer's mentality" said Mantlo. Speaks from Raleigh, NC will play next week with teammate Vernon Payne at Jerry Mullen's JUCO 120 Camp in Tulsa,OK.

Speaks averaged 13.7 ppg and 4 rebounds last year while shooting 53% (132-248) from the floor. Payne a wing player like Speaks averaged 15.4 ppg and 4.9 rebounds last season for the Sea Devils. Payne made first team all-region last season. "Vernon has a great body and athleticism" said Mantlo.
Mi'Kyel Nero is no stranger to the the rest of the region. Nero played his freshman season back in 2008-2009 at nearby Brunswick Community College where he averaged 10.8 ppg and 4.8 rebounds for the Dolphins. Nero decided to leave after one season and signed with Georgia State University. Nero redshirted last season for the Colonial Athletic Association School. Nero from Richmond,VA is a very versatile player who plays with a great deal of passion on the floor.
Jordan Richardson and Antwan Bosier will look to help this trio this season. Richardson coming off a knee surgery before last season and came on strong down the stretch last season according to Mantlo. Richardson averaged 3.7 ppg. Bosier a Wilmington,NC native attended Laney High School before heading off to Southeastern Illinois College last season. Bosier left the Falcons after the first semester and enrolled at Cape Fear Community College in January 2010 classes.
