Smith in the midst of another visit

North Dakota State College of Science forward Andre Smith is one of the top unsigned junior college players in the nation. It looks as if he'll remain that way through the end of the late signing period.
"Andre is visiting Northern Illinois today," said NDSCS coach Craig Irwin. "He visited Idaho last week, so he will have one left."

Erwin mentioned St. Bonaventure as a possible destination for that final visit. While the signing period does end Wednesday afternoon, players may still sign with Division One schools after that time. However, they do not sign national letters of intent and Irwin says players take a little bit more of a risk because any signature after Wednesday is not as binding.
"Absolutely he'd like to get something done," said the coach. "But he was just inundated with opportunities and schools here late. He is taking his time and wants to make the right decision."
Part of the reason for the delay was Smith's desire to focus on academics in the spring semester. Irwin said he did that.
"He is going to need seven hours this summer," Irwin noted. "But he had a very successful spring."
