Solid Nucleus of Talent at Collin County

Jim Sigona's Collin County program has been among the upper echelon of Region V for quite some time.
While his 2003-2004 edition lacks outstanding size, the Express have a lot of strong wings and interchangeable parts.

In addition to Kent State transfer Chris Williams (profiled elsewhere on this site), Coach Sigona is expecting strong leadership from 5-11, 180 pound point guard Isaac Hines of Dallas, Tex.
The wiry built floor general has drawn heavy mid-major recruiting interest this fall. Sigona said that Arkansas State, North Texas, Lamar and New Orleans have all been in touch with him regarding Hines. Hines spent a year at a Division I program before transferring into Collin last fall.
"Isaac is quick, he distributes and he can defend anybody," Sigona said. "He's a good enough shooter, but what he does best is run a team."
DeMarquez Rembert, another key sophomore returnee, has already committed to Hartford. He was profiled on this site earlier this week.
Jason Bray is a 6-4 spot up shooter with good athleticism. A native of Plano, Bray was a qualifier out of high school.
A freshman who arrived at Collin County with some level of expectation is 6-5, 230 pound power forward Brian Showers of Neptune, N.J.
Showers played several years ago at Hagerstown C.C. in Maryland, but due to a family hardship, withdrew from school during his first semester.
According to Coach Sigona, Showers' clock began at that time, but Collin appealed to the NJCAA and got that year of eligibility back. That means that Showers is a freshman athletically, but may need to go the NAIA/D-II route due to his clock.
Blessed with a rugged frame and a nice shooting stroke, Showers could become one of the Express' go-to guys in the post throughout the 2003-2004 campaign.
JUCO Junction will stay on top of the Collin County players throughout the 2003-2004 season. Keep it here for the top coverage of JC ball on the internet.
