Solid seasons to go around

The Carolinas Region will have two teams play this season in the NJCAA National Tourney in Hutchinson, Kan., under the new format. The Cape Fear Community College Sea Devils go into the holiday break with a 12-4 record under head coach Ryan Mantlo. The Sea Devils have been led this season by sophomore Faronte Drakeford. The rugged undersized post player is currently averaging 21.1 ppg and 7.2 rebounds this season.

Drakeford informed JucoJunction that he has been hearing from Albany, Sam Houston State and Stony Brook this fall. "Faronte really has the ability to go to work inside the paint and can knockdown a 14 footer while facing up. Faronte finishes with both hands around the basket and can really create a mismatch against bigger post players with his ability to move and staying active in the paint," said JucoJunction Publisher Bret Swanson.
Tony Menton is a Charlotte, N.C., resident in his second season with the Sea Devils. Menton played AAU basketball with Team United.
Menton is a small forward who loves to play on the perimeter and stalk the baseline with his great athleticism.
Menton is currently 9.9 points per game this season for the Sea Devils.
Freshman Anthony Williams was recently ruled ineligible for the second semester. Williams a North Charleston, S.C., resident was averaging 10.5 ppg and 7 rebounds before his departure.
