Previously this spring, Southeastern Head Coach Todd Franklin told JUCO Junction that Smith would likely stay close to home for college.
Smith said he went over to Louisville today and informed the coaching staff of his decision.
"I went down there during open gym and told them," Smith said.
A powerful athlete, Smith averaged 15.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and three assists per game for the Falcons in 2002-2003. He helped SIC win the Region 24 crown and District 16 title, which led to an appearance at the NJCAA Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan. The Falcons placed seventh.
We will have much more on Smith's commitment, including an in-depth Q&A with Donta on this site a bit later.
