Southeastern Illinois Sophs Getting Recruited

Todd Franklin enjoyed unprecedented success this winter at Southeastern Illinois College, leading the Falcons to their first ever appearance at the NJCAA Tournament and a seventh place finish.
After finishing the postseason with a gaudy 34-2 record, many of SIC's sophomores are looking to cash their chips in for Division I scholarship offers this spring.

The player who held it all together for the Falcons was strong 5-10, 180 point guard Darren Dickerson of Wilmington, N.C.
Prior to enrolling at SIC last fall, Dickerson spent time at a pair of Division I programs -- UNC-Greensboro and Old Dominion.
A qualifier out of high school, Dickerson averaged 9.3 points and 5.1 assists per game in 2002-2003. He shot 42 percent from the floor and 36 percent beyond the three point arc.
Southeastern Illinois Head Coach Todd Franklin told JUCO Junction that Baylor University is coming in on Monday, Apr. 21 to take a look at Dickerson.
In addition to Baylor, Louisiana Tech and SW Missouri State are also interested in Baylor this spring.
Dickerson is expected to graduate this spring, and as long as he can keep his overall GPA above 2.0, should have no problem enrolling at a Division I school in the fall.
Two wings and a power forward round out the quartet of players that we will focus on in this article.
The two wings -- 6-3, 185 pound Teddy Davis of Durham, N.C. and 6-3, 185 pound Jermaine Burks of Louisville, Ky -- are both wide open and receiving Division I interest.
Davis, a fine athlete, averaged 10.4 points and four rebounds per game for the Falcons. He shot 50 percent from the floor and 26 percent from beyond the three point arc.
Franklin said that Oral Roberts and Marshall are looking at Davis this spring.
As for Burks, he averaged 10.1 points per game. He shot 43 percent from the field and 37 percent from three point land.
Eastern Kentucky, Oral Roberts and Marshall are involved with Burks to date.
Finally, Eric Young, a developing 6-6, 205 pound power forward, has planned a pair of official visits this spring.
Franklin said that Young will visit Austin Peay (Apr. 18-20) and Grambling State (Apr. 25-27) over the next two weekends.
Despite being limited offensively, Young averaged 3.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game this season. He shot 58 percent from the floor but just 40 percent from the foul line.
