Spates returns to Division One hoops
Korey Spates did not take long to make his return to Division One basketball. The Schoolcraft guard will play next season for the Kent State Golden Flashes.
"He really liked coach Jim Christian," said Schoolcraft head coach Mike Brown. "And now he will be only 45 minutes from home."

A Warrensville, Ohio native, Spates had offers from Cincinnati, Xavier and Purdue out of high school. He chose Purdue and, as a freshman, averaged 10.1 points (fourth on the team) and 2.5 rebounds per game. Spates averaged 25 minutes in 15 games for the Boilermakers.
"He just scores in so many ways," Brown said.
Nebraska, UNC-Wilmington, Charlotte, San Diego State and Arkansas-Little Rock were also pursuing Spates.
