Spicer headed west

Kankakee's Chaz Spicer was named a first-team junior college all-American following his sophomore season. He'll try to follow that up next year as a Utah State Aggie.
"The latest that I heard from Chaz and his parents was that he has verbally committed to Utah State," said Kankakee head coach David Holstein. "They were going to sign and I haven't heard anything different from him."

Oregon, Washington State, Illinois State, St. Louis and Valparaiso were the other schools that had tried to land the 6-foot-7 inch Spicer. Holstein thinks he'll be a big-time threat at USU.
"He's a very good offensive player," said the coach. "He's very skilled with the basketball in his hands. He's a classic power forward, can stepout and shoot it. He's just very skilled. He's a good shooter, got great touch, finishes around the rim very well."
Spicer led Kankakee in scoring this season as a sophomore. The team was 23-and-10 and lost in the Region IV Division I championship game.
