Spotlight on College of Coastal Georgia

JucoJunction had a chance to watch some good basketball this past weekend in Tallahassee, FL at the Southeastern Jamboree on the campus of Tallahassee Community College. JucoJunction will be attending seven junior college jamborees this October and this was the first. We've got the latest on the Mariners of The College of Coastal Georgia in this article.
The Mariners are a new-look team this season. Recently the Mariners dismissed sophomore guard Antonio Tribble from the program. Tribble, a scoring point guard from Newberry, SC, was let go this week according to Mariners assistant coach James Frey. Tribble averaged 14 ppg last season after prepping at Laurinburg Institute in Laurinburg, NC. Kiara Douglas will rejoin the club second semester and sophomore Paul Finn from Richmond DNP this past weekend after being ill according to coach Frey.

Johnathan Brooks, (SO) 6-foot-6 (180) from Macon, GA, transferred into the program this season from Northwest Florida State College. Brooks averaged 8.8 ppg and 7.5 rebounds last season.
"Brooks, a small forward, can hit the midrange jumper to an occasional three-pointer," said JucoJunction staff analyst Bret Swanson.
Jarren Harris, (FR) 5-foot-10 from Tennile, GA, will take over for Tribble at the point guard position.
"Jarren plays with a lot of energy and his very a vocal point guard. Jarren can really create his own offense from shooting the ball or getting into the lane for a bucket," said Swanson.
Tray Pearce, (FR) 6-foot-5 from Ashburn, GA, was an academic qualifier coming out of high school and signed with South Carolina State but decided not to attend the MEAC School in Orangeburg, SC. Pearce prepped at Turner County High School.
Kevin Bradshaw, (FR) 6-foot-6 from Rembert, SC, prepped at Crestwood High School in Dalzell, SC.
"Kevin is a really raw talent with a great frame. He just needs playing time and coaching to excel at this level," said Swanson.
The Mariners used to be called Coastal Georgia Community College but recently changed the name of the school in the past year. College of Coastal Georgia is located in Brunswick, GA right off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and about 60 miles north of Jacksonville, FL.
