Spotlight on Weatherford College

The Coyotes of Weatherford College in Weatherford, TX have some quality sophomores this season on the roster for head coach Dave Donnelly. The Coyotes are hoping to turn things around from last season when the team was 8-21. JucoJunction had a chance to see the Coyotes play last weekend in Dallas, TX at the Mitchell-Mullen Dallas Blowout. The Coyotes have a good nucleus of sophomores to go with some quality freshman for this season.
Kendall Durant, (SO) 6-foot-3 (190), is back for his second season with the Coyotes. Durant, a former Virginia Tech signee out of New Hampton Prep in New Hampshire, hails from Washington, D.C.

"Kendall has a great strong body and can knock down mid-range jumpers while also creating his own shots whenever he wants," said JucoJunction staff analyst Bret Swanson.
Durant told JucoJunction he has heard from Pittsburgh,Texas A&M,Texas Christian University and Texas-Arlington this fall. Durant did say he wouldn't sign until the spring signing period.
Sammy Yeager, (SO) 6-foot-4 (190), hails from the Central Valley of California in Modesto. Yeager played last year at Modesto College where he averaged 24 ppg, 7.1 rebounds while shooting 49.2% (220-447) from the floor and 40% (55-137) from three-point range. Yeager scored a season high of 38 points in one game last season. Yeager a wing player signed with San Diego out of high school but didn't qualify academically. Yeager told JucoJunction he has heard from Idaho and Sacramento State in the early signing period but wouldn't look to sign until the spring period.
Beas Hamga, (SO) 7-foot-0 (225), is a transfer from UNLV. Hamga, a native of Cameroon, Africa, prepped at Storneridge Prep,Cornerstone Christian (TX) and Decatur Christian in Decatur,IL in the past. Hamga arrived in the USA with Hasheem Thabeet and first started off at Storneridge Prep under then head coach Ron Slater. Hamga had some knee problems here at the Mitchell Mullen Jamboree and didn't see much action. New Mexico is showing strong interest in the center this fall.
Aron Walker, (SO) 6-foot-10 (235), is back for his second season with the Coyotes. Walker prepped at Lee Academy in Lee, Maine a few years back after playing his senior of high school in Ohio. Walker, a native of Sweden, averaged 3.7 ppg and 3.9 rebounds last year for the Coyotes. Walker told JucoJunction he has heard from Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois University and Idaho this fall.
The Coyotes should get some quality minutes out of some freshman on the roster this season. Look for Kenny Stewart, Darious Jones,Thad Showers and Samuel Hughes make contributions for Weatherford College this year. Stewart, an academic qualifier, prepped at Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, MA last season. Jones and Showers will share the point guard duties this season. Hughes is a big bodied post player from Cleveland. Hughes is 6-foot-8, 320 pound.
The Coyotes look to improve on last year's season and with this talent should make plenty of strides.
