Statesmen advance
The Richard Bland College Statesmen in Petersburg, VA are a fairly new program on the NJCAA circuit. The Statesmen held off a feisty group from Penn Valley Community College 87-76 to advance to the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
The Statesmen improved to (29-4) on the season.

Richard Bland College had 6 players in double digits for the game. The Statesmen were led in scoring by Sophomore Avery Ugba with 21 points and 18 rebounds. Tavon Mealy chipped in 15 points while four players added 10 points a piece.
The Scouts who entered the NJCAA National Tourney with (9-22) were led in scoring by sophomore guard Julius McCoy with 27 points. McCoy connected on 7 three pointers.
The Scouts forfeited several games this season for a eligibility issue shows in the teams record.
