Statesmen player makes early pledge
Jake Newton has committed to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville according to Statesmen Head coach Mike Ray.
"Jake visited the SIU-E campus last Monday and really liked the coaching staff and campus. Jake feels like he has a chance to have a opportunity to step in and contribute right away" said Ray.

Newton, a wing player, averaged 11.2 ppg and 4 rebounds last season for the 16-14 Statesmen. Newton shot 44% (56-126) from three point range.
Newton, a Terre Haute, IN native, will have two seasons to play at SIU-E.
Lincoln Trail College is located in Robinson, IL
