Spartanburg Methodist College finished last season at 35-1 and had won 34 straight games until they lost in the semifinals to eventual NJCAA National Champion the College of Central Florida 71-61. The Pioneers came back the next day to defeat Vincennes University
100-93 to win the third place trophy.

DaQuan Jeffries will look to lead the Pioneers this season after averaging 10.1 ppg and 5.3 rebounds last season. Jeffries shot 58% (140-253) from the floor last season and he will look to move back to his natural position at small forward this coming season according to Pioneers Head Coach Jeff Brookman.
Jeffries made NJCAA All-Tourney last season in Hutchinson, KS.
The Pioneers will open this season in the 7th Annual Pioneer-Swanny's Classic on the SMC
campus on Friday November 1. The classic will be played all weekend on campus with many prep schools playing in the three day event.
