Staying on top

The Mullen-Mitchell Dallas JUCO Blowout got underway on Friday and JucoJunction was in the gym for all the action. The Jamboree is in its 12th year and I'm proud to say I have attended every year from the start. Read the latest on what's happening right here on JucoJunction.
The day started with defending NJCAA National Champions South Plains College playing Indian Hills Community College. The Texans controlled the game from the get go and cruised onto victory. The 2013 JucoJunction Top 150 will be released in November and Yanick Moreira will be ranked the No. 1 player in the country to start the season.

Moreira guided the Texans to the NJCAA National Championship last season and was also named NJCAA MVP of the National Tourney. Moreira played in the first two scrimmages Friday before leaving on an official visit to the University of Oregon.
Devonte Smith is the floor general for the Texans this season. The Oklahoma City native just sets the one for the team.
Freshman Roderick Lawerence saw plenty of good minutes Friday for the Texans. The Orlando, Fla. native had signed with Morehead State University out of high school but was released when then head coach Donnie Tyndall was in charge.
"Lawrence is a left-handed wing player who can hit the three ball," said JucoJunction Publisher Bret Swanson.
The Texans are looking to defend their NJCAA National Championship this season but the WJCAC Conference will prove to be a difficult task to conquer.
Stay tuned to JucoJunction for the latest in junior college basketball recruiting news all season long.
