Still deciding

After trying to get him on campus for a visit for months, Nebraska finally got 2014 Lee (Texas) College power forward Deng Deng to make his way up to Lincoln this week. Though he left without committing, the 6-foot-8, 220-pound native of Sudan said the Huskers, who were already near the top of his list of schools, became even more of a favorite after his visit.
"It was great," Deng said. "I loved it, man. It was really good. I had a great time… It was better than expected, to be honest. I was surprised. It was better than I thought."

As well as things went during his time in Nebraska, which spanned from Monday to Wednesday afternoon, Deng threw a new wrinkle into his recruitment when he told HuskerOnline.com that he will be making a third official visit to LSU on Thursday. Deng had originally committed to the Tigers back in 2012, but a snag in his transcripts prevented him from enrolling and forced him to take the junior college route at Lee. Though the plan was for him to eventually come back to Baton Rouge, La., LSU ended up pulling his scholarship and moving on.
Having already officially visited Baylor last week and now Nebraska, Deng said he plans to finally make his decision on a school by the end of this week after his visit to LSU and getting a chance to talk things over with his family.
While having the Tigers jump back into the mix is a new hurdle for NU, the good news is that Deng said he enjoyed everything about his trip to Lincoln. In particular, he said his favorite part was getting to sit down with head coach Tim Miles and lead recruiter Chris Harriman, who has been recruiting Deng, now 22 years old, since he was 16.
"Mostly just the coaches," Deng said of what stood out most about his NU visit. "They've been recruiting me for a long time, and I've really gotten to know them and like them a lot. The staff, the players, really just the people there. It's great. It's more like a community out here, you know? I really liked that."
Deng was originally scheduled to visit Nebraska for its regular-season finale against Wisconsin on March 9, but a broken ankle two weeks earlier put that visit on hold. Deng said his rehab went as well as he could've hoped, and he plans on being fully recovered by the time the 2014-15 season gets underway this fall.
Though Deng would be a nice addition to a Huskers' 2014 recruiting class that already features center Jacob Hammond, point guard Tarin Smith and senior power forward transfer Moses Ayegba, Nebraska will have to wait a few more days for him to make his decision.
After his visit, though, Deng said Nebraska would definitely be tough to beat.
"Nebraska's always been one of my favorites, but I'll know for sure after I go to LSU," Deng said. "But Nebraska is one of the top schools on my list right now. I'm really looking forward to coming here, but I've got to go compare and contrast with some other schools, you know? But it's one of my top schools now."
