Sweet Shooting Woodley MEAC Bound

Jared Woodley, a sweet-shooting 5-11 5-11, 170 pound point guard from Howard C.C. in Columbia, Md., has signed with Hampton University.
Woodley picked Hampton over interest from Radford, UNC-Greensboro, East Tennessee State and East Carolina, according to his father Barry.

"Hampton was just a better program all the way around," Mr. Woodley told JUCO Junction. "He was comfortable with them, and when the head coach came up to see him, that showed a real sincere interest."
Woodley earned his A.A. degree from Howard this spring and is currently enrolled in summer school courses at Hampton.
Woodley was terrific when JUCO Junction evaluated him in February at the Maryland State JUCO Tournament. That evening, he connected on five three pointers, scoring 30 points and also dropping a number of dimes on Prince Georges C.C. in a 77-74 Dragon victory.
A product of Calvert Hall H.S. in Baltimore, Md., Woodley was in his second year at Howard in 2002-2003. He sat out at the school last year after transferring in from Division II Wheeling Jesuit in West Virginia.
Woodley will have two years of eligibility at Hampton. On top of being a terrific three point shooter, he also possesses good court awareness and showed a consistent ability to find the open man in halfcourt sets.
