Talented duo leading Merritt CC

Merritt College head coach Troy Johnson has his club off to a .500 (8-8) start going into conference play this month. Coach Johnson gave JucoJunction a update on two of his most promising prospects in Chris Busch and Andre Martin.
Busch, (SO) 6-foot-6 (220), is currently averaging 18.7 ppg and 7.3 rebounds this season. Busch a combo forward played his freshman season at Santa Rosa JC a few years back. spring and a host of Division II schools are following him.
"Chris has a solid midrange game and will draw contact on both ends of the floor," said
JucoJunction staff member Bret Swanson.
Martin, (FR) 6-foot-4 (190), is originally from San Diego, CA. Martin is a very talented point guard.
"Andre really has great court awareness and can really stuff the score sheet with his performance on the floor. Andre is a big guard that can play physical and glide to the
rack," said Swanson.
Boise State has shown heavy interest in Martin since this past fall. Fresno State, San Jose State, San Francisco and most recently Washington State have requested film on Martin.
Martin is averaging 10.5 ppg, 5.5 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 3.7 steals for Merritt College. Andre is shooting 52% (51-98) from the floor so far this season.
Robert Shannon, (FR) 6-foot-5, has been released from the squad at Merritt College. Shannon, from Washington DC, was averaging 9.4 ppg in 10 games played this past fall. Shannon played at the Patterson School (NC) last season and had signed with Marshall University coming out of the Patterson School but failed to qualify academically.
