Tate Will Have Three Years @ FAMU

Florida A&M Head Coach Mike Gillespie always mined the Northeast well when he was in charge of the Tallahassee (FL) C.C. program, so it wasn't surprising that the Rattlers secured a commitment this spring from high scoring point guard Tony Tate.
Tate, a 5-11, 185 pounder from Jersey City, N.J., committed to the FAMU program after taking a visit to the Florida school last month, according to Globe Asst. Coach James Ross.

Ross said that Tate will have three years of eligibility for the Rattlers so long as he graduates from Globe this summer. Tate is currently enrolled in "summer one" at Globe so that he can complete his degree requirements.
After sitting out a year at the University of Pittsburgh, Tate bounced to Globe this past fall. While the Knights were on probation in 2002-2003, Tate had a productive campaign at the lower Manhattan based school.
Programs like Drexel, St. Joe's, Manhattan and Colorado expressed interest in Tate this spring, but Florida A&M won out in the end.
The Rattlers also landed another Globe player this spring in the form of walk-on Vic Monaros.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., the 6-5, 210 pound combo forward will have two years of eligibility at FAMU.
