Team Focus: Cecil Community College

The Cecil College Seahawks had a great season by most measures at (31-1). Head coach Bill Lewit is still upset that is team is not playing in Danville, IL today at the NJCAA National Tournament. The Seahawks had won five straight Maryland State Championships and had won 80 straight games versus Maryland opponents when Prince's George upset the Seahawks 98-95 to advance to Danville and the National Tournament. JucoJunction had a chance to touch base with coach Lewit today on his players' recruitment.
Rob Lowery: (SO) 6-foot-2 (165) from Forrestville, MD: Lowery will visit Central Florida this coming weekend according to Lewit.

"Rob visited Fresno State a few weeks and St. Bonaventure is also coming in on him," said Lewit.
Lowery played his freshman season at Chesapeake College and sat out last season at Cecil College. Rob the starting point guard for the Seahawks averaged 18.2 ppg, 8.7 assists and 3.8 rebounds this season.
"Rob is a very explosive athlete and can really finish at the rim," said JucoJunction staff member Bret Swanson.
Lowery made first team all-conference this season.
Kevin Palmer: (SO) 6-foot-6 (195) from Baltimore, MD: Palmer is a third year small forward who averaged 18.7 ppg and 6.9 rebounds this past season. Kevin was the MVP of the Maryland State Tournament and made first team all conference honors this season. Palmer played his freshman season at CCBC-Catonsville in 2005-2006 where he averaged 10 ppg.
"Kevin can play all three perimeter positions and has a good skill level," said Swanson.
Albany and Morgan State are following Palmer this spring according to Lewit.
Josiah Whitehead: (SO) 6-foot-6 (225) from Portsmouth, VA: Whitehead, a third year player, played this season at the power forward position. Josiah played on the 2005-2006 National Championship team and redshirted last season. Whitehead averaged 11.5 ppg, 5.4 rebounds and shot 56% from the floor this season. Josiah is currently on a visit to Western Carolina and visited Robert Morris back in the fall.
Josh Bennett: (SO) 6-foot-6 (220) from Snow Hill, MD: Bennett, a power forward, is a very solid student in the classroom. The third-year left-handed power forward visited Robert Morris back in the fall is getting strong interest from Cornell University.
"Josh can step out and hit the three ball and has good explosion," said Swanson.
Bennett averaged 6.3 ppg and 7.4 rebounds this past season.
Bernard Cherry: (SO) 6-foot-6 (225) from Bronx, NY: Cherry averaged 4.9 ppg this season. Bernard, a power forward, played his freshman season at Arizona Western College. Cherry is mostly receiving D2 interest but he is still wide open in the recruiting process.
