Team Focus: Iowa Western

The Reivers of Iowa Western Community College are currently (21-3) on the season and (2-1) in conference play. Head coach Jim Morris has his team tied with Southeastern Community College and Indian Hills Community College in conference play with three games left. JucoJunction had a chance to touch base with assistant coach James Bankhead on some players recruitment at the Council Bluffs, IA school.

Lloyd Phillips: (SO) 5-foot-10 (165) from Washington DC. Phillips played at Allen County Community College in Iola, KS last season. Lloyd signed with the University of Montana, but had second thoughts and returned to junior college ball and landed at Iowa Western Community College. Phillips, a combo guard, is currently averaging 16.2 ppg and 3.8 assists this season while shooting 44% (77-175) from three point range.

Middle Tennessee State, St, Bonaventure, Troy (AL) and South Dakota State have shown the most interest in Phillips. Lloyd prepped out of high school at Coastal Christian Academy in Virginia Beach, VA.

Ray Miller: (SO) 6-foot-7 (205) from Des Moines, IA.

"Ray is a very bouncy player and extremely hardworker," said Bankhead.

Miller is getting 10.6 ppg and 6.2 rebounds a night for the Reivers. Murray State, Cal

State Fullerton, Tennessee Tech and Southern Illinois are showing interest in the agile combo forward.

Tyler Troupe: (SO) 6-foot-7 (196) from Gallatin, TN. Troupe played at UT-Chatanooga prior to landing at Iowa Western Community College.

"Tyler is a very skilled, long and athletic wing player," said Bankhead.

Southeast Missouri State is currently following Troupe on the recruiting trail. Tyler is averaging 6.5 ppg and 6.7 rebounds on the season.

DeAnthony Zanders: (SO) 6-foot-0 (180) from Des Moines, IA. Zanders is a point guard that carries a 3.9 GPA in the classroom according to Bankhead.

"DeAnthony is a pure point guard who is very strong and tough," said Bankhead.

Zanders is currently at 3.8 ppg and 3 assists a night for the Reivers.
