Team Focus: Mineral Area College

The Mineral Area College Cardinals are heading into the postseason with a (19-11) record. The school located in Park Hills, MO plays in the same conference as Three Rivers Community College and Missouri State-West Plains. Cardinals Head coach Corey Tate has some sophomores this season that are getting some looks for the next level.
Jerwin Callaway: (SO) 6-foot-2 (195) from Chicago. Callaway committed to Northern Illinois University. Jerwin a Chicago Marshall product played his freshman season at Kankakee Community College in Illinois.

"Jerwin is a sniper shooting guard who made all-conference for us this season," said Mineral Area College assistant coach Chad Kish. Callaway is getting 13.5 ppg, 6.3 rebounds and 2 assists a outing for the Cardinals this season.
Marcus Scott: (SO) 6-foot-4 (220) from Maywood, IL. Scott started his college career at Lewis University in Romeoville, IL back in 2005-2006. He averaged 3 ppg in 17 games played for the Flyers that season. Marcus attended classes last season at Mineral Area College but didn't play.
"Marcus is an inside-out wing player that has a great frame and can really attack the basket well," said JucoJunction staff member Bret Swanson.
Marcus, an all-conference performer this season, has received attention from SE Missouri State, Tennessee Tech, North Texas and Central Arkansas. Kentucky has also put a call into Scott this past month according to Kish. Marcus is averaging 11.8 ppg and 5.4 rebounds an outing this season.
Marquis Young: (SO) 6-foot-9 (290) from Chicago. Young started his college career at Ole Miss back in 2005-2006. Young a Chicago Austin graduate sat out last season at Mineral Area College.
"Marcus is a big bodied post player that has good skills," said Kish.
Young is receiving interest from SIU-Edwardsville, North Texas, Illinois-Chicago and Chicago State this season. Marquis is only averaging 3.5 ppg and 4.3 rebounds on the season for the Cardinals.
Barry Wellington: (SO) 6-foot-0 (170) from Memphis, TN.
"Barry is a jet quick combo guard that can score the ball," said Kish.
Wellington is receiving interest from the likes of Tennessee Tech, Montana State, North Texas and Central Arkansas. Barry, an all-conference performer, is averaging 8.2 ppg, 4.3 rebounds and 3 assists an outing this year.
The Cardinals look to advance through the Missouri Region this off season on the way to the National Tourney next month in Hutchinson, KS.
