Ahmad Grant is in his first year of playing ball at the college level. Grant, (FR) 6-foot-2 from Peoria, IL, attended Illinois Central College back in the 2005-2006 as a part time student. Grant worked all of last season while not attending school.
Grant is currently averaging 20.4 ppg, 4.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists for the Blue Knights on the season. Third year head coach Mike Burris learned of Grant from former Indiana player AJ Guyton who works out with Ahmad in the summer back in Peoria. Grant, a non-qualifier out of high school will need a NCAA appeal to have three years left to play.
"Ahmad is a late bloomer who barely saw the floor in high school," said Burris.
Valpo, IP-Fort Wayne, Cleveland State and Wichita State have shown interest in Grant this season.
Tijan Jobe: (SO) 7-foot-0 (250) from Gambia, Africa.
"Tijan has a great body and physical structure. He still needs to work on his offensive skills and in time could be a nice college player," said JucoJunction staff member Bret Swanson.
Jobe played the fall semester last year at Butler County Community College in Kansas.
Jobe is averaging 3.9 ppg and 4.1 rebounds in 17 minutes of action a night for the Blue Knights. St. Bonaventure, Eastern Illinois and Charleston Southern have shown interest in the center this season. Jobe will need summer school to graduate.
"Tijan would be a great redshirt candidate for a school," said Swanson.
Burleigh Porte: (SO) 6-foot-8 from Liberia, Africa. Porte played at Butler County Community College last season with Jobe. Burleigh prepped for two seasons at Central Park Christian in Birmingham, AL. Porte is receiving interest from IP-Fort Wayne, Ball State, Cleveland State, Campbell, St. Bonaventure and Valpo. Burleigh is averaging 10.3 ppg, 8.1 rebounds and 3 blocks on the season. Burleigh is hitting 62% from the floor this season. He will need summer school to graduate from Olney Central College.
