Team Focus: Western Texas

Western Texas College head coach Mark Berger had his team finish the season at (18-11). The Westerners are in just their second year of basketball at the Snyder, TX school. JucoJunction got an update on some of the sophomores from Western Texas College this season.
Derek Williams: (SO) 6-foot-1 (170) from Queens, NY:

Williams was an all-conference and all-region performer this season. Derek played at Genesis One Christian in Mendenhall, MS prior to coming to Western Texas College. Williams averaged 19.1 ppg and 4.3 rebounds this season. Derek scored 864 career points in his two year career while playing in 58 games for the Westerners. Williams scored 33 points in two outings this season versus Collin County and Odessa College. Derek recently visited LaSalle and SMU and will visit Santa Clara on March 28.
Wayne Burton: (SO) 6-foot-8 (220) from Dallas, TX:
"Wayne is a great defender who led the conference in blocked shots," said Berger.
Burton averaged 10 ppg, 6.3 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per outing this season. Arkansas-Little Rock, Albany and Idaho are all keeping tabs on Wayne this spring.
Tyler Rushing: (SO) 6-foot-4 (185) from Iowa Park, TX:
Rushing is a great student in the classroom carrying a 3.8 GPA according to Berger.
"Tyler is a shooter who can play the 2 or 3 spot on the floor," said Berger.
Rushing is receiving from UT-Pan American and will visit the Broncs in the near future. Tyler averaged 6.7 ppg this season.
Brawley Chisholm: (SO) 6-foot-2 (165) from Bronx, NY. Chisholm played with Williams at Genesis One in Mississippi. The combo guard shot over 40% from three point range this season. Brawley averaged 6.9 ppg this season.
