Texas bound

"Jason Smith has signed with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi," Islanders Assistant Coach Kenneth "KT" Turner told JucoJunction.

The Fort Worth, T.X. native averaged 24.9 point, 7.3 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game this season for the Allen County Community College Red Devils in Iola, K.S.
Smith was No. 129 in the 2011 JucoJunction Top 150.
Smith started his college career at Ranger College. Smith scored a season high 39 points versus Hutchinson Community College back in November when Turner was a assistant coach on Steve Ecks' staff.
Smith shot 56 percent (239-426) from the floor this season for the 8-23 Red Devils. Smith should look to get some quality minutes right away for the Islanders this fall along with fellow junior college signee Myron Dempsey.
