It was another wild week in Texas juco hoops action. The Texas Eastern Conference played two more sets of games, on Wednesday and Saturday. The Western Junior College Athletic Conference hosted a few North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference opponents. Four teams remain unbeaten in the East, including two surprises.
Weatherford journeyed to West Texas to face #4 ranked Howard and Midland. The Coyotes lost to #4 ranked Howard 90-71 and also to Midland 97-88. Frank Phillips recorded a huge win over Seminole (OK) 87-69. Cedar Valley upset Temple 95-88. McLennan held off Cedar Valley 90-84. South Plains had an outstanding week. The Texans knocked off Collin Co. 65-59. Freshman guard Steve Harley led them with 21 points, Jermaine Bolden added 18 points, and UTEP signee, Victor Ramalho chipped in with 11 points and 17 rebounds. Collin Co. was lead by Jarret Van Rosenburg with 14 points and Roderick Adams with 10 points. The Texans also defeated Temple 83-70. Freshman Joseph Harris led them with 27 points and 9 rebounds. Victor Ramahlo continued his dominating play in the paint with 16 points and 12 rebounds. High Scoring freshman, Steve Haley chipped in with 14 points and 8 assists. Corey Harbert with 21 points and Eric Staten with 20 points led Temple.

In the east, San Jacinto handed Panola their first loss of the year in a wild one 117-103. Houston signee, Rob McIver with 26 points, led the Ravens and UAB signee Mykal Riley with 29 points led the Ponies. Tyler continued their undefeated play with an 81-61 victory over Kilgore. Sharp shooting, freshman guard, Tyrone Cole led the Apaches with 22 points. Jonathan Leopaul led the Rangers with 11 points. Lon Morris also remained undefeated, as they beat Kilgore 76-49. The Bearcats were led by Hernol Hall with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Jonathan Leopaul led the Rangers again with 15 points. Angelina continues to be the surprise of the East, as they are 10-1 overall and 3-0 in conference. They went on the road Saturday and won at San Jacinto 79-75. Sophomore Point Guard, Chip Cartwright led the Road Runners with 18 points and 9 rebounds. San Jacinto was led by Rob McIver and Champ Sylvester with 19 points. Paris also remained undefeated in conference play. They had to come from behind to beat Trinity Valley 75-74. Maurice Steen and DeUndrae Spraggins led the Dragons with 14 points.

The 6 foot-8 240-pound, future UTEP Miner, continued his dominance of the low block. He helped the Texans to two wins over Collin Co. and Temple. He averaged 13.5 ppg & 14.5 rpg.

Navarro College guard, Kenneth Kelley has put up good numbers this year (14 ppg). Kelley transferred to Navarro from the University of Tulsa. He is receiving interest from North Texas, Stephen F. Austin, and Centenary. This list should get longer before it gets shorter.
