Texas Talk

Things are really starting to heat up in Texas. Two of the three leagues have a team that has jumped to the forefront in each.
In the West, #1 Howard continues to roll and is now 6-0. In the North, McLennan is now 7-0 in conference. In the East, it is far from being decided. Angelina holds a one game lead on Paris and Lon Morris. This one is going go down to the wire folks.

This week was highlighted by some more exciting games. On Monday, #1 Howard faced South Plains. Howard won, 81-65. It was a battle between two explosive guards, Howard's Charlie Burgess who scored 27 points and South Plains freshman Steve Harley from Temple Hills, MD who scored 21 points. Harley will be one of the top recruits in the country next season.
On Wednesday, Kilgore upset Panola in a shootout 107-101 in overtime. Kilgore sophomore forward James Causey exploded for 32 points. Panola was led by the highly recruited Marvin Kilgore with 27 points and 8 assists. On Thursday, #14 Midland defeated Odessa 71-70 in overtime.
On Saturday, Kilgore continued its winning ways with an upset over Lon Morris 72-63. Sharp-shooting guard Casey Forge led the Rangers with 17 points. All-American Hernol Hall led the Bearcats with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Also, on Saturday, McLennan continued their perfect record in conference with a huge win over Grayson County 70-67. McLennan was led by standout freshman Marlon Vincent, from Austin, TX with 22 points. Justin Williams led Grayson with 19 points. To finish up Saturday, Blinn had a major upset on the road, as they knocked off Paris 65-57. Freshman guard, Desmond Boatner from Lake Charles, LA led Blinn with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Freshman Ramone Clemente, from St. Albans, NY led the dragons with a double-double 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Trinity Valley
Hrycaniuk dominated play in the paint on Saturday vs. Tyler. The native of Poland had 26 points and 18 rebounds. He is a very good mid major NCAA Division I prospect. In addition, he is very skilled and he enjoys physical play on the low block.
Recruiting Update
One of the best available power forwards in the juco game today is San Jacinto sophomore Tafari Toney. The 6-foot-8 jumping jack from Brooklyn, NY, has become a hot commodity among NCAA Division I school. At this point, his top three suitors are UNLV, Charlotte, and Houston.
