Trices Dream Come True: SEC Bound

Georgia Perimeter shooting guard Roderick Trice had a chance to fulfill a childhood dream this past weekend, and he didn't hesitate when offered a scholarship by the University of South Carolina.
As a result, the high flying 6-2 shooting guard from Swainsboro, Ga., has signed with the Gamecock program, according to GPC Asst. Coach David Dennis.

Dennis said that Trice took an unofficial visit to South Carolina on May 7-8. He previously took official visits to Ohio State (Apr. 9-11), Minnesota (Apr. 16-18) and Baylor (Apr. 22-24).
The lure of the SEC was impossible for the other programs to overcome in the end.
"Rod always wanted to play in the SEC, but he didn't get recruited like that out of high school," Dennis explained. "South Carolina lost Michael Boynton, so there's an opportunity to play, and he's suited for their system of pressing and trapping."
Dennis said that South Carolina offered Trice a scholarship when he was on his visit this past weekend. Trice is slated to graduate from Georgia Perimeter this Saturday, May 15.
Trice was the heart and soul of this year's Jaguar squad. He averaged 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 4.4 steals per game.
"South Carolina is probably going to play him at the two," Dennis said. "Not only was he our best player, but he was our defensive stopper who guarded the other team's best player."
"They're looking for him to be a leader, and they plan on playing him a lot," Dennis continued. "He can do a lot of things, and he plays both ends of the floor."
Trice will have two years of eligibility at South Carolina. He could form an all-JUCO backcourt next winter with former Hutchinson (KS) standout Josh Gonner.
