Trojans keep juco star in state

Tim Floyd is on a roll right now. After picking up a commitment from Ryan Boatwright, the USC Trojans picked up a junior college prospect for the Class of 2008. Mt. San Antonio Community College guard Dante Smith committed to Southern Cal.
"Yes, I did," the 6-foot guard confirmed. "It is close to home, plus, just the school itself, both academics and sports-wise, I liked."

Smith said he had interest in Oklahoma, Minnesota and Arkansas in addition to the Trojans at the time of his commitment.
"I play hard," he said of his game. "Basically, I like to win, so I leave it all on the court."
With the talent being recruited by Floyd, playing time could be at a premium at Southern Cal in the next few years, but Smith likes his chances.
"I'm going to work for it," he said. "If I can go there and start, I will, but I'm going to put in the work."
Smith averaged 21.7 points and four assists per game as a freshman. He hit 100 three-pointers and shot 44.5% from the floor overall.
