Two make commitments at Highland

Highland Community College in Freeport, IL is no stranger to putting players into Division One basketball. JucoJunction had a chance to touch base with Cougars assistant coach Ronnie Dean at the Illinois Valley Community College Jamboree on Monday. This season the Cougars did not play in the one day jamboree but coach Dean gave JucoJunction an update on two Cougars making decisions on their futures.
Brandon Wood, (SO) 6-foot-3 (180) from Kokomo, IN, has committed to Valparaiso next season and Eric Frederick, a (FR) 6-foot-7 (230) combo forward, will play at Texas Christian University. Wood started his career at Southern Illinois University and played in 6 games at SIU and averaged 3.7 ppg.

Frederick sat out last season and attended classes at Cowley College in Arkansas City, KS back in January 2008. Frederick, an Oklahoma city native, played at Cornerstone Christian in San Antonio,TX a few seasons ago and will try to graduate this season from Highland and go to TCU with three years to play according to coach Dean.
Wood picked the Crusaders over interest from Detroit Mercy. Wood will have three years for Valpo starting next season.
