Two sign from Lamar State College

Lamar State College in Port Arthur, TX made great strides this season under first year head coach Matthew Cross. Cross took over the Seahawks last summer and really made them into contenders into Region XIV in Eastern Texas. JucoJunction has the latest on which two players from the Seahawks program have signed on for next season.
Kavon Rose will stay nearby to play at Lamar University. Rose 6-foot-2 from Detroit,MI is a former division one transfer. Rose averaged 13.5 ppg and 3.5 rebounds for the Seahawks this past season. Rose is now the fourth junior college player signed with the Cardinals for next season.

Ahyaro Phillips will be back in Division One next season after signing with James Madison University. Phillips, a New Orleans, LA native, left after Hurricane Katrina and found a place to play high school basketball in Richmond, VA. Phillips prepped at Fork Union Military before signing with Nevada and then head coach Mark Fox was at the helm.
Phillips averaged 11.3 ppg and 11.2 rebounds this season while shooting 57% (144-254) from the floor. Phillips also swatted 103 blocks this past season. JucoJunction will keep an eye on the Seahawks and the rest of Region XIV as the signing period keeps going all month long.
