Two sign from South Suburban

South Suburban College in South Holland, IL has now had 23 players move onto the four-year level under head coach John Pigatti. Pigatti just finished his 4th year at the Chicago area school. JucoJunction found out today that two Bulldogs players have decided to sign on with Division One programs for next fall.
Tremell Adams has signed with Lamar University in the Sun Belt Conference and Jack Houpt has signed with Western Illinois University. Adams recently visited the Beaumont, TX school and walked quite impressed according to Pigatti.

"Tremell really like the atmosphere at Lamar and the coaching staff. He will now have a chance to be near his brother and sister who attend college in the Houston area," said Pigatti.
Adams, a third-year player from Chicago Curie High School, visited Albany and Youngstown state University this spring along with Lamar University according to Pigatti. Adams averaged 22.4 ppg, 7 rebounds and 3.3 assists this past weekend. Adams shot 38% (74-197) from three-point range for the Bulldogs. Adams closes out his career at South Surburban College with 876 career points.
Adams was named player of the year in Region IV and gathered first-team all-American honors this season. Tremell will play this coming weekend in Las Vegas, NV in the NJCAA National All Star Game.
Houpt, an academic qualifier coming out prep school at Bridgton Academy in Maine, will play for the Leathernecks next season. Houpt, 6-foot-7 (205), played his school basketball at Chesterton High School in Indiana. Houpt will have three years to play for Western Illinois University.
"Jack is a great pick and pop kind of player. He can really stroke the ball for his size," said JucoJunction staff analyst Bret Swanson.
Houpt averaged 9 ppg and 5 rebounds this season for the Bulldogs.
Coach Pigatti now has 112-27 record in four seasons at South Suburban College. The Bulldogs have won three regional championships and has made the NJCAA D2 National Tourney in Danville, IL on three differennt occasions. Pigatti has been Region IV Coach of the Year three times in his four years at the school.
