"Larry is a low block scorer. He really enjoyed his visit to Arkansas State and Shawn Forrest did a great job of recruiting him," said Schumacher.
Handy averaged 11.7 ppg and 6.8 rebounds this season while shooting 61% from the floor. Southern University (LA), Idaho, UT-San Antonio, Central Arkansas and Arkansas State were in contact with Handy. Larry played his freshman season at Lamar University.
Brandon McThay: (SO) 5-foot-10 (175) from Deerfield Beach, FL. McThay is heading back to Lamar University next season. Brandon played his freshman season at Lamar before transferring to Kilgore this past year. He averaged 8.5 ppg and five assists for the Rangers.
"Brandon really wanted to go back to Lamar. He is a tough-nosed player that really competes" said Schumacher.
Nate Garner, (SO) 6-foot-5 (230) from Cedar Rapids, IA, will be heading to the University of Evansville next season. Garner has played the last two seasons at Tyler Junior College.
"Nate is a great rebounder that does all the little things to help your program win games," said JucoJunction staff member Bret Swanson.
Garner averaged 14 ppg and 7.5 rebounds this season for the Apaches while shooting 63.3% (159-251) from the floor.
