Two stand out at Shawnee College

Shawnee College is located in Ullin, IL (population 250) which is on the southern tip of the state. Shawnee College plays in the Region 24 with the likes of Lincoln College, Illinois Central and John Wood Community College. Head coach John Sparks has had a rough season with a (10-20) entering tourney play this week, but the Saints have two promising players in Jonathan Griffin and Brandon Anderson.
Griffin, (SO) 6-foot-9 (200) from New Orleans, LA, attended Shiloh High School in Atlanta, GA for his senior season. Griffin was displaced after Hurricane Katrina. Jonathan is in his second season with the Saints and is currently averaging 12 ppg, 10 rebounds and 2.8 blocks this season. Jonathan has recorded 73 blocks this season to go along with 14 double-double games.

"Jonathan has stepped up his game against the toughest opponents and has put up outstanding numbers," said Sparks.
Griffin averaged 5.1 ppg and 4.1 rebounds as a freshman. He will have to go the D2/NAIA route.
Anderson, (FR) 5-foot-10 (140) from Louisville, KY, is a combo guard. He is averaging 14.2 ppg and two assists for the Saints this season. Anderson scored 44 points earlier this season versus Lincoln College.
"Brandon turned it on in conference play and performed well for a freshman," said Sparks.
Shawnee College opens tourney play on Tuesday at Parkland College.
