UCLA lands juco point guard

The UCLA Bruins do not spend much time recruiting junior college players. But Ben Howland's team has dipped into the the junior college ranks for a player. JucoJunction was informed early this morning that the Bruins have landed themselves a point guard for next season.
Lazeric Jones, a point guard from John A. Logan College in Carterville, IL, will take his game to the PAC-10 Conference next fall and play for the UCLA Bruins according to Volunteers assistant coach Kyle Smithpeters. Jones, a Chicago, IL native, prepped at Simeon High School with Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls.
Jones, one of the many sophomores on the Volunteers roster this season, saw a lot of strong interest this fall, especially from UCLA and Wisconsin according to coach Smithpeters. Jones is currently averaging 12.6 ppg, 5 assists and 4.3 rebounds this season for the 8-4 Volunteers. John A. Logan College plays in the rugged GRAC Conference in Region 24 (Southern Illinois).
JucoJunction will keep an eye on the Volunteers the rest of the season and the rest of the sophomores on the roster right here on your source for junior college basketball recruiting.
