UCLA lands juco point guard

The UCLA Bruins do not spend much time recruiting junior college players. But Ben Howland's team has dipped into the the junior college ranks for a player. JucoJunction was informed early this morning that the Bruins have landed themselves a point guard for next season.
Lazeric Jones, a point guard from John A. Logan College in Carterville, IL, will take his game to the PAC-10 Conference next fall and play for the UCLA Bruins according to Volunteers assistant coach Kyle Smithpeters. Jones, a Chicago, IL native, prepped at Simeon High School with Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls.

Jones, one of the many sophomores on the Volunteers roster this season, saw a lot of strong interest this fall, especially from UCLA and Wisconsin according to coach Smithpeters. Jones is currently averaging 12.6 ppg, 5 assists and 4.3 rebounds this season for the 8-4 Volunteers. John A. Logan College plays in the rugged GRAC Conference in Region 24 (Southern Illinois).
