UIC signs a pair

University of Illinois-Chicago reached into the the junior college ranks this spring for some front line help. The Flames came out with two new additions to the roster for 2010-2011 season. Read this article on JucoJunction to see who will be suiting up in the Horizon League next fall.
Dorian Tyler knows his way to the UIC Pavilion after growing up on Chicago's West side and playing at Marshall High School. Tyler just finished his junior college career at Morton College in Cicero, IL for Head Coach Frank Lollino Jr. Tyler received interest from Florida Gulf Coast and the hometown Flames before deciding on UIC.

Tyler averaged 16 ppg and 9.7 rebounds this year for the Panthers while shooting 61% (192-317) from the floor. Tyler finished his career at Morton College with 823 career points and 583 rebounds in 64 games played.
"I really liked the idea of staying close to home and playing," said Tyler.
Darrin Williams helped the Lions of Wallace State in Hanceville,AL to a 5th place finish in the NJCAA National Tourney last month in Hutchinson, KS before committing to the Flames. Williams, 6-foot-9 (295) center from Louisville, KY, averaged just 6 ppg and 3.8 rebounds this season. Williams averaged 11.5 ppg as freshman. The Lions finished the year at 32-5 and were a very talented team. The Lions are coached by Allen Sharpe who currently has a 136-30 record at the Alabama Junior College.
