Update on CSI Sophs

The College of Southern Idaho has played second fiddle to Dixie State College of Utah over the past few years, but the Golden Eagles are hoping to ride their sophomores to the Region 18 crown this winter.
Dante Sawyer, a 6-5 small forward from Oakland, Calif., is now expected to sign late.

Sawyer took his only official visit of the fall to Fresno State. Former CSI Head Coach Guy Beach is now an assistant coach at Fresno State.
"He's probably going to sign late," CSI Asst. Coach Barret Peery said. "The only school that he considered signing early with was Fresno State."
In addition to the Bulldogs, Sawyer is also considering Oklahoma, UNLV, Oklahoma State, Clemson and Florida State. Many of those programs are expected to come in this winter and evaluate Sawyer.
Another player drawing heavy interest is 6-8, 230 pound power forward/center Yusuf Baker of Florida. Peery said that UNLV has expressed heavy interest in Baker, who is also being looked at by UCLA, Pittsburgh, Long Beach State, Southern Utah and Virginia Tech.
Odessa College transfer Jason McGriff, a 6-8 combo forward from Florida, has colleges like Purdue, Baylor, UNLV and Florida Atlantic tracking him this fall, Peery said.
In other CSI news, 6-4 South Florida transfer Sheldon Franklin has left the Golden Eagles' nest this fall. He's the third player to leave Southern Idaho since the start of the school year -- the others being 6-10 Mark Konecny (Yavapai, AZ) and 6-4 Daniel Artest (Westchester, NY).
