Ventura sophomores lead playoff push

The Ventura College Pirates (25-6) will play Riverside CC this weekend in the Final 16 of the California State Junior College basketball tourney. Assistant coach Jeff Theiler caught JucoJunction up with the recruitment of sophomores Danny Tavares and Anthony Pimble.
Tavares, (SO) 6-foot-8 (220), from Brooklyn, NY. Tavares now has 1,007 career points and 187 career blocked shots heading into this weekend playoff game.

"Danny is a multi-dimensional post player," said Theiler.
The first team all conference player can play inside-out. San Diego State and Utah State have both offered Tavares a scholarship for next year. Danny is averaging 16.9 ppg and 10.2 rebounds this season.
Pimble, (SO) 6-foot-5 (175) from Bronx, NY. The small forward better known as "Afrika" from the New York City Rucker League was recently named MVP of the conference.
"Anthony is the most athletic kid I have ever seen," said Theiler.
The run-jump athlete is very long and excels in a up-tempo style of play.
Anthony is averaging 15.5 ppg and 8.8 rebounds this season heading into this weekend. Pimble just averaged 6 ppg as a freshman. His recruitment is totally wide open according to Theiler.
