Villepigue Generating Solid Interest

Dustin Villepigue, a 6-9, 225 pound power forward/center from Dixie State College in St. George, Ut., has played through nagging injuries this season.
Villepigue spent two years at Gonzaga prior to arriving at Dixie in the fall of 2003. He red-shirted one year and played sparingly the next before opting to enroll at a junior college.

A native of Simi Valley, Calif., Villepigue averages 9.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and one assist per game for the 18-8 Rebels. He's shooting 67 percent from the field and 58 percent from the foul line.
According to Dixie State Asst. Coach Ryan Burke, a bad ankle sprain has hampered Villepigue's progress this season.
"He's skilled offensively, and can score in a lot of different ways," Burke explained. "But because of his injury, he hasn't been as explosive."
Burke said that UNLV, Rutgers, Wyoming and UC-Santa Barbara are among the colleges inquiring about Villepigue this winter.
Villepigue is expected to make a spring decision. JUCO Junction will keep you posted on his recruitment as it picks up speed in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
