Volunteers off to quick start
The John A Logan College Volunteers are currently 6-1 on the season.
The Volunteers are led by a solid group of sophomores this season for head coach Kyle Smithpeters.

AJ Riley signed in the early signing period with Eastern Illinois University.
Russell Woods, a left-handed post player, hails from Chicago, IL. Woods played his high school basketball at Chicago Simeon High School.
Woods played this past summer at Mullen's Top 100 in St Louis, MO. Woods is currently averaging 15.6 ppg and 8.4 rebounds.
Martavian Payne is the leader scorer on the Volunteers this season at 16.7 ppg. Payne a off guard can really get to the basket and plays with great body control on the floor.
The Volunteers will try ot make that next step and that would be Hutchinson, KS next March. The Volunteers will have to get by the current number one in the country in Vincennes University in this region.
