Webb staying in Texas

Originally, Brandon Webb was supposed to head to the Division I ranks out of Terrell High School. That unfortunately didn't come to pass for the all-around 6-foot-6, 230-pound forward, so he headed the JC route to find his way back to college basketball highest level. Now entering his sophomore campaign at Panola College in Carthage, Webb has found a new fit and it will be in the SWAC.
After this season, Webb will continue his college career at Prairie View A&M. "Brandon did a good job his freshman year, was solid on both ends of the floor, and he had a few people talking to him in the spring," said Panola head coach Jacob Wonders. "He had a few more people talking to him this fall and Prairie View was the one that made the strongest push. What it came down to was Brandon wanted to stay in Texas to be near his family and after they talked, he decided it was what he wanted to do."

Webb was originally a commit to UT-Arlington in the fall of 2005, during his junior year at Terrell High School. But the two sides mutually decided to part ways prior to the end of his senior season and it actually wasn't until late in the summer prior to the 2007-08 season that he found a place to play at Panola.
"Brandon was kind of off-the-radar when he came to us, but he's done a good job," Wonders said. "He's a great kid, solid student, and a great team guy who will do whatever you want him to do. He can guard both inside and outside and he does all the little things on both ends of the floor. I think he's a great early signing for Prairie View."
As a freshman last season, Webb averaged 5.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.8 blocked shots while shooting over 65 percent from the field.
