West Coast Mids Looking a Yavapai Big Man

Mattias Johansson, a developing 6-11, 245 pound center from Yavapai C.C. in Prescott, Ariz., has become a target of several mid-major programs on the West Coast.
According to Yavapai Head Coach Brooks Thompson, Boise State and Northern Arizona have been in to take a look at Johansson this winter. Portland State, which plays in the Big Sky Conference, is also slated to come out and take a look at Johansson in the not too distant future.

JUCO Junction last viewed Johansson, who hails from Huskvarna, Sweden, at the 2001 ACCAC Jamboree in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Johansson displayed decent mobility and some face up skills when we viewed him a year and a half ago, although it was clear to us at the time that he needed to significantly boost his lower body strength before moving on to the Division I level.
With the dearth of available big men this spring, Johansson could develop into a key target for more D-I programs, especially if the Roughriders make it out to the NJCAA Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan.
JUCO Junction will keep you posted on the big Swede as the spring signing period approaches, so keep it here for the latest developments on unsigned J.C. sophs.
