West Coast Programs Looking Hard at Baker

A number of high major West Coast programs are taking a serious look this winter at Southern Idaho's Yusuf Baker.
Baker, a 6-8, 230 pound power forward/center from Orlando, Fla., averages 13.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game for the Golden Eagles (13-6). He is shooting 63 percent from the floor and 65 percent from the foul line.

Baker came to Southern Idaho after spending his freshman year at the University of South Florida. He encountered some off the floor issues and a coaching change last spring at USF before making the move to CSI.
CSI Asst. Coach Barret Peery told JUCO Junction that UNLV, Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, Georgia State and Southern Utah have expressed an interest in Baker.
"He's getting a ton of rebounds for us," Peery said. "He's an excellent rebounder, defender and shotblocker who can get it done well enough offensively."
Peery expects Baker to graduate, although he may need the summer to do so. JUCO Junction will keep you abreast of any new developments regarding Baker's situation. Stay tuned.
